No Burn Advisory

Mesa County Public Health has issued a No Burn Advisory from Saturday, June 6 at 7 a.m. until Monday, June 15 at 9 p.m. due to fire danger. Burning of any kind, including agricultural burning, is not allowed during this advisory period. Check conditions on our Air Quality webpage.

When snowy weather hits Mesa County, our Road and Bridge employees drive the streets day and night, plowing and dispersing salt to ensure our roads are safe and ready to take residents where they need to go — at the County Commissioners' Dec. 10 public hearing they approved a $146,001 contract to construct a salt shed to store essential road salt.

Construction of the salt shed will develop at 971 Coffman Road B in Whitewater, where the Mesa County Road and Bridge department is housed.

The addition of the critical storage facility will:

  • Protect road salt from adverse weather conditions, ensuring its effectiveness, reducing waste, and saving taxpayer dollars.
  • Prevent salt from entering unwanted areas to safeguard our local environment.
