We’re taking big step towards a sustainable future with our Revitalization Project, projected to save taxpayers a remarkable $19.9 million. This project focuses on implementing cutting-edge energy-saving measures across public facilities, enhancing both environmental and economic outcomes. By upgrading HVAC systems, installing LED lighting, and integrating smart energy management solutions, Mesa County is significantly reducing its energy consumption and operational costs. Through these efforts, Mesa County not only enhances its public infrastructure but also sets a standard for leveraging technology to achieve long-term sustainability goals.
Project highlights
The most visible project will be ground mount solar installed outside the Community Service Building. The Community Service Building is one of many buildings to receive a new HVAC system with controls to improve occupant comfort and reduce maintenance for County staff. The building’s boiler will also be replace with a more energy- \efficient boiler and new interior and exterior LED lighting will be installed. Status: Construction begins Winter 2024
The courthouse is set to boost its occupant comfort and operational efficiency with a comprehensive overhaul of the HVAC system. Alongside this, both interior and exterior spaces will benefit from the installation of state-of-the-art LED lighting, complemented by advanced controls to optimize usage. The Workforce Center’s roof serves as an ideal location for installing solar panels, harnessing the sun's energy without taking up additional land. The addition of rooftop solar at the Workforce Center and ground mount solar at the Community Service Building will result in $1.5 million in lifecycle savings. The Workforce Center will also receive new exterior and interior lighting, as well as lighting controls. Status: Construction begins Winter 2024
Key updates to the Sheriff’s Office Administration and Detention facilities include the implementation of state-of-the-art water controls which will allow County staff to oversee showers and valves, preventing maintenance issues and enhancing safety measures. A new high-efficiency boiler system will also be installed to significantly reduce utility costs. Complementing this is a comprehensive gas procurement strategy aimed at optimizing energy consumption and further economizing resources. Status: Construction begins Winter 2024
