No Burn Advisory

Mesa County Public Health has issued a No Burn Advisory from Saturday, June 6 at 7 a.m. until Monday, June 15 at 9 p.m. due to fire danger. Burning of any kind, including agricultural burning, is not allowed during this advisory period. Check conditions on our Air Quality webpage.

Here is a reminder to think before you throw it away. Many commonly used household items can cause harm to you and your family, employees handling waste, and the environment when not disposed of properly. 

The items below should not be thrown away at home:

  • Paint, such as latex, oil-based, spray paint, stain, craft, and hobby paint
  • Ammunition
  • Fireworks and road flares
  • Automotive products, such as antifreeze, oil, gasoline, brake fluid
  • Batteries
  • Electronics; think "e" for entertainment, computers, stereos, TVs, video game consoles
  • Light Bulbs, such as fluorescent tubes, Christmas lights, HID bulbs
  • Garden products, such as insecticides, herbicides, fertilizers
  • Spa and pool chemicals
  • Cleaning products
  • Used syringes
  • Over-the-counter medications

Make your way to the Hazardous Waste Collection Facility, 3071 U.S. Highway 50, Wednesday through Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. to safely dispose of household hazardous waste items.
