Permanent guardians needed for at-risk adults in Mesa County 01-07-2026

Mesa County Department of Human Services (MCDHS) works to ensure at-risk adults in our community are safe, supported and able to live with dignity. One important way the community helps protect vulnerable adults is through permanent guardianship.

Guardianship is often used to support older adults or adults with disabilities who are unable to safely make certain decisions on their own. Guardians may help manage medical decisions and medications, complete required court reports and provide day-to-day advocacy or oversight. Guardians work within a clear legal framework and receive guidance, including a guardianship manual that outlines responsibilities and expectations.

Becoming a guardian is a meaningful commitment and may be a good fit for compassionate, dependable individuals who are comfortable assisting with medical needs, willing to complete required paperwork, able to pass a background check and interested in helping someone maintain safety and stability.
