Learn about Mesa County's Co-Response

The Mesa County Co-response was initiated in the summer of 2023 to improve the response to mental health crises and behavioral health issues in the community by integrating clinicians into patrol teams to ensure that individuals in crisis receive specialized support from a dedicated team of professionals.

Co-response pairs a law enforcement officer with a clinician, enabling them to respond to active service calls involving behavioral health crises jointly. This collaborative approach reduces law enforcement involvement in complex mental health calls.

The implementation of Co-response also aids conventional law enforcement operations in maintaining their primary focus: the expeditious delivery of vital crisis response services to the community and the handling of public safety services and matters.
